Feminine Charm

Feminine décor has a light and airy feel that can work in most homes.  Although I do love my feminine items, it can be hard when you share a space with a masculine guy.  It is possible to combine feminine charm with a masculine flare.  Combining dark woods with the light fabrics and finishes can help create a nice contrast between the two looks.

Below is how you can create your own feminine room, even if it’s just a pipe dream!! All of these items are featured on Joss&Main if you are interested in purchasing the look.

Neutral Nurseries

I am now 37 weeks pregnant and anxiously waiting my little bundle of joy.   The nursery is basically done, just a few minor changes to be made.  Since my husband and I did not find out what the sex of the baby is, we had to go the neutral route.   Honestly, that is one of the main reasons why I didn’t want to find out what I was having.  The grey, white, and mint green palette makes me so happy for a nursery.  Once the baby is born I plan to put his or her name above the crib, but for now it is just a blank canvas.  I will post some photos of my baby’s nursery really soon, stay tuned!

Today’s post will be some of my inspiration or just images of gorgeous nurseries I can’t help but swoon over.

Visit my Pinterest page for more inspirational images I have collected over the years!

Embracing Houseplants

Wow, it has been a long time since I have posted anything! As I get closer and closer to my due date, I have started to cut back on working.  In fact, my last day will be next Friday!  So I should have more time to post while I am waiting for my little buddle of joy.

In the mean time, I would love share my thoughts and inspiration about decorating with plants.  For those of you who know me, I am big into houseplants.  Well any plants or flowers in general.  They are the perfect accessory to any room and they provide better oxygen throughout.  They certainly liven up a space with a little color and are really easy to maintain.  Plus getting new and interesting planters can really enhance the overall look to your room.

Fuchsia

I have been going crazy over here with all of this snow!  It’s starting to seem like it might not ever end.  Thankfully February is on the way out, which means Spring is right around the corner!

With Spring comes bright and fun colors that liven up our wardrobes and homes!  Fuchsia is a gorgeous bright color and is perfect for this time of year.

A Parisian Surprise

Friday, February 6th, was one of the most amazing days of my life (second to finding out I was pregnant).  My boyfriend (Scott) proposed to me in the most romantic way.  Every girl imagines their proposal, but my boyfriend blew it out of the water.

As soon as I got home from work on Friday night there was a limo waiting for me.  The limo driver handed me an envelope with Scott’s strict instructions,  pack bags and get back to the limo in 10 minutes.  Let me take you back a little…I was told weeks before we were going to NYC for the weekend so I packed for the city and everything was ready on Thursday night.

When I got my bags and went into the limo there were several Parisian themed items, a CD, and a large envelope.  I was told not to open anything until we got to our next destination.

As we pulled up to Chardonnay’s (the restaurant where Scott and I had our first date) things started to fall into place.  I had to go into the restaurant and tell them my name.  After waiting for a few minutes the waiter brought out a pizza box with other assorted take out boxes (clearly my boyfriend knew this prego would be hungry).  Then I had to put in the CD and open the envelope while the music was playing.  As Justin Timberlake’s “Not a Bad Thing” played over the sound system (our song), Scott recorded his voice with the direct words from the card I had just opened.  Everything he had said brought me to tears and I just knew what was coming next.

I was brought to the next destination, The Five Bridges Inn (where we first met).  The limo pulled up the windy, snowy road and then I saw him standing at the front of the Inn waiting for me.

As I walked up the narrow path in the snow to Scott he had placed pictures of us and mason jars with little tea lights.  Every little detail was carefully planned out!  After the proposal we went back into the limo and headed to NYC, or so I thought.  Scott finally let out his big secret (as if the proposal wasn’t enough), he was in fact taking me to Paris!

It was the most romantic weekend of my life and I loved everything about the city and the amazing experience.  It has such beautiful architecture, culture, and how could I forget those delicious desserts!

XO

Decorating with Mint

Decorating with Mint -- d.luxe designs

Mint is a light and airy color that will brighten up any room.  It has been a popular trend in the décor world as well as the fashion world, anything from jewelry to curtains. I think it is best used as a pop of color so it doesn’t feel too much like an Easter egg.  It lends itself really well to powder rooms, nurseries, and coastal inspired living rooms.  Although if you have an eye for design, you basically can put it in any room you desire.

Zoya Manicure

Since I have been pregnant, I have been trying really hard to limit the toxins I put on my body, which is one of the main reason why I became an Ava Anderson consultant as mentioned here.   But, I am still a girly girl and love to paint my nails!  I found Zoya to be one of the best out there with less toxins compared to other leading nail polish companies.  The polish is free of the BIG5, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Camphor, & Dibutyl Phthalate free,  and Vegan friendly.  With over 300 different colors to choose from, I’d say this is a great buy at $9 per bottle.
